When Havard Rugland's soccer club disbanded, he wondered if his skills were transferable to an obscure American sport-football.  He found the game fascinating although he knew nothing about it. With the help of his two brothers and a friend, he put together an entertaining and eyecatching video entitled, Kickalicious.  The YouTube vid caught the eye of a former NFL kicker and lots of social media moves later, landed him in front of the Jets for a tryout.

To learn more about Havard's journey, check out this NY Times article here, and to see the awesome accuracy of his leg, see the Kickalicious below.

He played 12 years for Manchester United, spent four years at Real Madrid and took the field for 115 matches for the English National Team.  Then, he was kind enough bring his talents across the pond to help boost the credibility of Major League Soccer.  I am referring to none other than David Beckham. In case you have taken his presence at the LA Galaxy for granted and put off watching him play, tomorrow (at 4:30 p.m. (est) on ESPN) is your last chance.  The MLS final between the Houston Dynamo and the LA Galaxy will be his final match here.  Becks is taking his talents elsewhere...To read more about he spent his 5 years here, check out Grant Wahl's Sports Illustrated article.

Although he is leaving for those of us who enjoy those H&M briefs adverts, I surely hope the company decides to let us have one reminder of his time here!

Mark Ya Man: Paris Saint-Germain's Gregory van der Wiel

Marking: Keeping close to a player to prevent them from scoring, passing or receiving the ball. Our Mark Ya Man posts will highlight a player in the world of soccer who we think you should keep a close eye on.  Gregory van der Wiel is a defender from the Netherlands who came up through the ranks at Ajax and is now playing with Paris Saint-Germain.  For those who check for audemar watches, Lil' Wayne and giving your parents an allowance, this is your guy.

FYI: Here's a quick tip to earn soccer cred early.  Learn to pronounce team names correctly.  Ajax is does not sound like the cleaner in the US.  It is pronounced Eye-yax.  Too bad Young Jack Thriller didn't get the memo.

P.S. Although I try to keep it kosher, YJT doesn't so take care when viewing the vid.  Enjoy!
